How to Create Gorgeous Social Media Pictures in Seconds

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: images are the bread and butter of social media. On Facebook, posts with pictures on average see 37% more engagement than text posts alone. Instagram and Pinterest are almost exclusively photo content, with very little text. To compete with the big boys, your social profiles need high-quality images. But how?

I’ll let you in on a secret: you don’t need Photoshop or a graphic design degree to create beautiful social media pictures.

We’ve rounded up 3 websites that will let you create a sharable masterpiece in only a few clicks. Best part? They’re all completely free.

Canva

Canva's user interfaceCanva is hailed by many as the Holy Grail of free photo editing tools, and it’s not hard to see why. It comes with free templates that let you drag-and-drop to create stunning graphics in seconds. You can create everything from flyers to postcards to resumes, but their main focus is on social posts. For the non-designers among us, Canva lets you select an existing design and customize the words and pictures to suit your needs. Getting started is easy – when you create an account, you’ll get sent to an interactive tutorial that shows you everything you need to know about Canva.

PabloPablo's user interface

Pablo is a fantastic tool for creating those quote images that are so popular on social media. The interface on Pablo is much more stripped-down than on Canva, but that makes it quicker to find what you need. It plugs right into free stock photo websites, so all you have to do is search for a picture and start editing. Pablo automatically resizes the picture based on whichever social network you want to share to, so you know your image will look its best.

PicMonkey

PicMonkeys's user interface

PicMonkey is another great alternative, with photo-editing tools that let you touch up an image and add graphics on top of it. Unlike Canva and Pablo, you do have to start with a picture before you can edit it. If you don’t have one in mind, you can nab one at free stock photo sites like Unsplash, PhotoPin or StockSnap.io. From there, follow the on-screen prompts to make your masterpiece. As a bonus: if you create an account, you can save all your pictures right on the website so you can edit them at any time.

And if you want to save even more time (and, really, who doesn’t?) make sure to check out our Social Media Timesavers BizzyWebinar on September 28. Don’t have time to watch it? No sweat. After the live stream, you can watch it on our YouTube channel any time you want.
